Sõrve is the name given to the annual Estonian Children’s Summer Camp conducted each January at the Office of Sport recreation campsite at Point Wolstoncroft NSW.

The overall management of the camp is undertaken by Sydney Estonian Parents and Friends Association Inc. - Sõrve Sõbrad - a community funded, not for profit volunteer organisation that is a member of Austraalia Eesti Selts Liit (AESL). It is guided by a constitution and requires annual membership.

The Constitutional Objectives of the association are to:

(a) Maintain and promote Estonian culture, language, customs, traditions and community amongst young people of an Estonian background in Australia;
(b) Develop social, organising, leadership and teamwork skills amongst young people of an Estonian background in Australia;
(c) Identify and train future potential leaders of the Estonian community in Australia;
(d) Create an environment for families to participate in the Estonian community, cultural
and sporting activities;
(e) Encourage the promotion of good citizenship and the values of tolerance and cultural diversity;
(f) Organise an annual summer camp for young people of an Estonian background in
Australia, which this camp shall be known as “Sõrve”

Not-for-Profit Status

Picture
We are thrilled to share that the Sydney Estonian Parents & Friends Association Incorporated (Sõrve Sõbrad) has officially received Not-for-Profit status early 2026!

This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to the Sõrve community and to nurturing Estonian culture, language, customs and traditions amongst young people of Estonian background in Australia. It strengthens the foundation of what Sõrve has always been, a place of connection, belonging and cultural pride.

What this means is simple: every dollar raised goes back into supporting all things Sõrve. From programs and experiences to future opportunities for our community, all funds are reinvested where they matter most. This new status also enhances our ability to apply for grants and funding, helping us bring new ideas and long-term projects to life.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Danae from the Sõrve Sõbrad Committee for her dedication and work in helping make this happen. It is through the generosity, care and commitment of our volunteers that Sõrve continues to grow and thrive.

Sõrve Merchandise Store

Sõrve has a year-round merchandise store for anyone missing that special camp feeling throughout the year. We’ve created a range of beautiful designs and products so you can carry a little piece of Sõrve with you wherever you go.

Each design is available across a wide range of items including T-shirts, jumpers, socks, bags, bathmats, aprons, singlets, as well as kids’ and baby sizes too.

Take a look through the store, there is something for everyone. Every purchase made directly supports Sõrve, and for that we are incredibly grateful. Your ongoing support helps keep our community thriving and connected.

Suur tänu Sõrvele päranduse jätmise eest!
Sõrve is honoured to have received a generous bequest from the Estate of the late Maud Kaljot.
Maud was a valued supporter of Sõrve and the role it plays in keeping Estonian culture alive in Australia; often attending fundraising events and donating silent auction items.
Such bequests can make a positive difference for future generations of Australian/Estonian children, of which the Committee is enormously grateful.

We are pleased to announce that The Estonian Cultural Foundation in Australia (ECFA) has generously agreed to provide project funding of the amount of $8,000, for the 2026 Estonian Sõrve Children's Camp.

Hans Ots Award
Additionally, $1900 will provide financial assistance to children or leaders who are resident in Australia and who, because of excessive cost of travel, financial or other hardship reasons would otherwise not be able to attend the annual children’s summer camp.

The Estonian President recognises Sõrve Summer Camp as an important place for Estonian kids in Australia to go to.
Sõrve is mentioned at the 1min 45 sec timestamp.
